-Memorial Day- Memorial Day or Decoration Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country's armed forces. It was traditionally observed on May 30 but now officially observed on the last Monday in May. Some ways to show honor are Wear or display a red poppy, display the U.S. flag, etc. An interesting fact is that the true origins of who held the first Memorial Day celebration is a debated subject. Approximately 620,000 soldiers on both sides died during the Civil War. The Grand Army of the Republic was created by the Union Army to honor their dead. I will probably do nothing on memorial day. I feel like memorial day is a well deserved day for veteran families. I don't mind having a day like this. I do think that some people only use it as an excuse to have vacations.
